Discover El Nido, Philippines

El Nido is the unspoiled paradise on earth and it’s located within the province of Palawan in the Philippines. Fabian and I decided that this would be a wonderful vacation destination because of the white sand beaches, coral reefs and the limestone cliffs. Once I heard that CNNGo had named it the best beach area in the Philippines, I knew that we had to go sooner than later.

Once we arrived in El Nido, we discovered that island hopping was the best way to see many of the 45 islands and islets that El Nido is comprised of. There are many places to choose from that offers island hopping tours and many of the tours include the boat, tour guide, pick up at the hotel, buffet lunch, life vest, kayaking, mask and snorkel.

One of the island hopping tours is to the lagoons and it was complete with snorkeling opportunities. Inside the small lagoon, we found a small cave to explore while we were snorkeling. We did need to watch out for the jelly fish while we were snorkeling though.

Once we reached the larger lagoon, we were blown away by how crystal clear the water was. We ate lunch on Shimizu Island on the white sand beach in the shade. Before we ended the tour, we stopped at the Secret Lagoon. We were instructed to get off the boat, as we had to swim under a cave in order to enter the Secret Lagoon. It was such a world wind experience as we looked at the colorful fish below our bodies. We soon discovered the shallow lagoon that was surrounded by huge rock walls, and it was beyond magical.

Another tour that we took was the beaches and shrines tours. Our first stop was Helicopter Island that actually looks like a helicopter from the air. We also visited a few other islands where we were able to snorkel, swing from a tall tree, or just lay on the beach and drink  cold coconuts.

Over at Hidden Beach, we were stunned by the emerald green waters surrounded by white sand and limestone. We ate lunch near the Matinloc Shrine and we were able to see the abandoned monastery and a gazebo. We even climbed the stairs in order to see the fabulous view of the sea and the shoreline.14408889_10153788181550952_1105833565_n

The turtles and jelly fish are huge at the Cadlao Lagoon as we discovered while we were kayaking.

El Nido is a beautiful place and we took many pictures while we were there. It is definitely a place that we would recommend to anyone who wanted to take an amazing vacation in the Philippines.
